USAID BEST assisted the Jordan Trail Association in bringing outdoor adventure specialist and author David Landis to Jordan to hike the trail and help JTA gather data for a potential guidebook. The Ministry of Tourism and Antiquities and USAID BEST have consulted tourism stakeholder in most of Jordan’s governorates about sector challenges and developments to feed into the coming National Tourism Strategy. Ahmad Bleilat sings praises of his training in the InterContinental Hotel Group Hospitality Training Academy. Pathways to Professionalism is being adopted by more hotels, and Ezzat Al Najjar relates his successful experience under the scheme. The first batch of learners from the Amman Marriott Hotel have been certified for completing Pathways to Professionalism and two internal examiner trainings were held this month. The Jordan Tourism Board hosted the UK Association of Independent Tour Operators annual conference with support from USAID BEST bring over two hundred travel agents and tour operators to Jordan.
