As the summer draws to an end, things are gearing up for significant developments within Jordan’s tourism sector. The five cities nominated to take part in the Distinctive Destinations Program - Ajloun, Jarash, Karak, Madaba and Salt - have been busy preparing their bids to receive support for further developing their city’s tourism offerings. Farming communities in the Salt area are learning about the concept of agritourism and taking the first steps towards developing it within their villages. Also in the Salt area, a new meetings facility has just been established at the Mountain Breeze resort, adding to the country’s MICE offerings. The popular Citadel Festival was officially launched and promises three spectacular international acts to take place in September. The first section of the Jordan Trail has been way marked, so hikers will find their way along the nature paths of the north of Jordan.
