Two young Jordanians from Madaba, Mohammad Al Homran and Mohammad Zayadeen, are the first Jordanians to finish the entire 650km Jordan Trail in one go. Minister of Tourism and Antiquities, H.E. Lina Annab, has been supporting their journey throughout, and today welcomed them as they reached their final destination in Aqaba, along with ASEZA Chief Commissioner H.E Mr. Nasser Shraideh, JTB Director H.E. Mr. Abdulrazaq Arabiyat and Muna Haddad President of the Jordan Trail Association. Hikers from around the country who have volunteered to help way-mark the first section of the trail over the past few months, joined the two young men for the last leg of their hike and arrived with them in Aqaba.
JTA and the USAID Building Economic Sustainability through Tourism Project (BEST) also supported these enthusiastic hikers to achieve their goal. USAID BEST is supporting the association and the development and promotion of the national Jordan Trail over the next year, helping to ensure sustainability of the JTA through a strategy that fosters adventure tourism, enables service providers to run trips along the trail, and creates investment opportunities for local communities along it.
