August Pathways to Professionalism Spotlight: Abdalla Ghalia

The Pathways to Professionalism scheme continues on-the-job training for hotel employees in food and beverage services, housekeeping, and food production that lead to national certification.  Learners are gaining experience in their field and learning skills that can be implemented in their everyday lives. Abdalla Ghalia works at the InterContinental Hotel in Amman and is a Learner on the Pathways program.

Describe your experience as a Pathways leaner?

“What I enjoy most about Pathways is the spirit of the trainers. They make achieving our goals tangible and fun.”

Why did you decide to enroll as a Pathways learner?

“My ability to work was there, but I needed more guidance and the Pathways courses gave that to me.”

What have you gained beyond your training as a housekeeper?

“Through my training I have also gained time management skills that I can also use in my everyday life.”

How do you see programs such as PTP impacting Jordan economically through the tourism industry?

“The importance of this kind of program is to produce well-trained and competent workers in the tourism industry because we are the first people guests encounter. We are the key to developing the tourism industry in Jordan.”
